1. What is sport and exercise psychology?
Sport and exercise psychology both focus on enhancing performance, behaviour, and wellbeing.
Sport psychology centres on performance optimisation, helping individuals maximise their potential and perform consistently at a high level. I take a strengths-based approach, viewing challenges like anxiety or low confidence not as problems to fix, but as opportunities to develop and refine performance.
Exercise psychology focuses on behaviour change and health, supporting individuals to initiate and sustain physical activity in a way that fits their life. I take a collaborative approach, combining evidence-based strategies with an understanding of each person’s unique context.
Overall, both aim to enhance how people perform and function, with support tailored to the individual.
2. Who is this service for?
I work with:
-
Competitive and recreational athletes of all levels
-
Coaches and support staff
-
Performers in high‑pressure environments (e.g., students, professionals)
-
People wanting a healthier relationship with exercise and performance
If you’re unsure whether this is right for you, you’re welcome to book an initial consultation to talk it through or send me an enquiry email.
3. Do I need to be struggling to benefit from psychology?
Not at all. Sport and exercise psychology is just as much about enhancing performance as it is about managing difficulties. You might come because you’re performing well but want to reach the next level, preparing for a key competition or transition, or wanting to feel more balanced and confident in your sport and life.
4. What happens in an initial consultation?
The initial performance consultation is a chance for us to:
-
Talk about your goals, challenges, and sporting/exercise background
-
Explore what you’d like to change or improve
-
Ask any questions you have about the process
-
Decide together on the best next steps
You don’t need to prepare anything in advance, just come ready to talk openly and honestly.
5. How long is a session?
-
Initial consultation: typically around 50–60 minutes
-
Follow‑up sessions: usually 50 minutes
If we’re working with a team, workshop or group, timings may differ and will be agreed in advance.
6. What is the cost of consultation?
Please contact me directly to discuss payment options. Prices start from £25 per 50 minute session, but individual prices and reduced rates for multiple sessions can be discussed.
8. Do you offer online sessions?
Yes, if you’re not local to South London we can engage over zoom or phone calls.
9. How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your goals, timeline, and the nature of what you’d like to work on. Some clients benefit from a short block of sessions around a specific event; others prefer ongoing support across a season. We’ll discuss this together after your initial consultation and agree a plan that feels realistic and sustainable for you.
10. Is everything we talk about confidential?
Yes. Your privacy is taken seriously. Sessions are confidential within professional and ethical guidelines. The only exceptions are rare situations where there are serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others, in line with professional standards.
If your question isn’t answered here, please reach out, I’m happy to help you decide whether this is the right support for you.
